A couple of weeks ago I met the lovely Charlotte at The Londoner's blogger meet up, who invited me to check out Bond & Brook.
As the CG and I haven't had a date since we got married, and after three weeks of barely seeing each other, we decided Saturday was the day for a little quality time.
Bond & Brook is a gorgeous little place tucked away on the second floor in the lux Fenwick on Bond Street, serving breakfast through to afternoon tea.
I loved the idea of just eating oversized appetisers. But the CG is A MAN, who apparently must have a main (you know all about him and his odd aversion to tapas) so we agreed on some small plates to share and main courses to follow.
But first, bubbles! Which is how every date should start.
We chose lobster thermidor, seared venison, and salmon tartare from the Bond & Brook collection.
The presentation was spectacular. I almost didn't want to eat it all, it looked so good - but then I came to my senses and dived in. The flavours were sensational. The CG even admitted that oversized appetisers could be the way forward.
I plumped for the seafood risotto for my main, which I really enjoyed but which was a bit much for the CG, as it was quite "fishy". He stuck to his beetroot and goats cheese ravioli, which was also presented wonderfully. Clearly I'm a sucker for a little decorative green with my food.
Dessert sealed the deal along with a cocktail - orange creme brulee and shortbread infused with lavender, and lemon roulade with vanilla custard.
We rolled out of there, full and happy, and headed to the movies - a perfect Saturday date afternoon.
